ICUP 2025 – Call for abstracts

ICUP 2025 – Call for abstracts

All those keen to present a paper or poster at the forthcoming 11th International Conference on Urban Pests (ICUP) are invited to submit an abstract of their proposed presentation, via the ICUP 2025 website at www.icup.org.uk/icup-2025

The deadline for submissions is Sunday 15 September 2024. So not far away!

The 11th ICUP conference will take place from 29 June to 2 July 2025 at AF-Borgen, the Academic Society (Akademiska Föreningen) building in Lund, southern Sweden.

The Organising Committee aims to highlight urban areas as environments where biodiversity is perceived as both an opportunity and a threat. In these areas, citizens are in close contact with other species, so quickly develop technologies that shape the relationship between humans and these other species. To reflect this, ICUP 2025 will have a general theme of ‘Smart and Sustainable Management of Urban Animals.’

The organisers are now inviting all those involved in research within the field of urban pest management, to submit an abstract of their proposed poster or oral presentation, for consideration by the organising committee. All presentations, papers and posters will be presented in English.

Instructions on how to submit an abstract can be found via the ICUP 2025 website at www.icup.org.uk/icup-2025 Submissions can be made only via the website and need to be received by 15 September 2024. Accepted authors will be contacted in November 2024, with the final manuscript submitted by the end of January 2025.

Jette Knudsen, chair of the ICUP 2025 Organising Committee said: “This is the 11th ICUP conference in this highly popular series of non-profit events. These offer a diverse and stimulating programme that combines classical urban pest topics with new ideas and projects. I would like to encourage all researchers and practitioners with novel findings to submit an abstract for consideration.”

Previous ICUP conferences have been held in Cambridge, England (1993), Edinburgh, Scotland (1996) Prague, Czech Republic (1999), Charleston, USA (2002), Singapore (2005) Budapest, Hungary (2008), Ouro Preto, Brazil (2011), Zurich, Switzerland (2014) Birmingham, UK (2017) and Barcelona, Spain (2022).
